Justin Beiber the Business Side

Yes! I did it! I went to the Ellen show, chilled with Justin Bieber, and then walked the purple carpet at his movie premier. Now all I need to hope is that all my friends will stay off my case! My younger brother Chris is Ellen’s assistant and surely hooked this trip up for my 14 year old sister (who was much more excited than I was). However at the end of the day, it was pretty cool.

Besides the fact that his basketball shot is downright terrible, Bieber is a cool dude. Let’s hope that those that surround him are who they say they are, and can keep him out of the path of the Paris Hiltons, Lindsay Lohans, and other train-wrecks of the world. It was truly touching today during the show when they showed the way that he touches people’s lives and is able to make so many people smile. His family was very proud of him and that was evident by his Grandpa crying backstage.

There are a few lessons that I believe we all can learn from this 16 year old with a “Gene Keady style” comb-over.

1. Surround yourself with great people. This kid fortunately has a family that is religious and put family first. Not all of us are blessed with that, but the key to success is we must surround ourselves with people that have great morals and high values. You are who you hang out with and you will in most cases be as good as the people that you spend the majority of your time with.

This is no doubt the main reason that the Biebs has been so successful thus far is he partnered and surrounded himself with successful, high character people. So who were these people? Well, lets start with Usher. He is one of the most successful and experienced entertainers in the history of music.

If you want to be successful in business you must position yourself around people that have been successful in the same field of business that you want to achieve success. That is what I did when I got started. I found a mentor and then read every book by those that have been successful doing what I wanted to do. If Bieber and his mom tried to do these things themselves they would have struggled immensely no matter how talented the kid was. I find it hard to believe that the Biebs would not have had a career in this industry, but it would have been much harder if he did not get hooked up with the best in the business.

Did Justin have to pay a ton to get this representation? Probably. Was it worth it? Just by looking the millions he must spend on hair products I am sure Justin is doing just fine for himself.

2. There was a quote from the movie that said “There was not a radio station that Justin did not play for” He made sure that everyone that could help him meet his goals knew what he did, how good he was at it, and who he was working with. He showed everyone that would listen why he was going places. He also let them know that he was partnering with Usher. This was huge for his credibility. If Usher was behind him then why should they not play his record?

So is it easy to do what Justin did in such a short amount of time? No, absolutely not. Is it possible for you to achieve such a success in this amount of time? Well that depends on the work you put in and the people that surround you. Bad partnerships and working with unqualified people are a main reason that people fail in business. You must do your due diligence and know who you are working with.

In one of my cash flow businesses there are five criteria that you must have in order to succeed. The 5th and most important is the team that you work with. Does your due diligence before you make a decision on any aspect of business, get a second opinion from someone else, and move slowly.

If you are surrounding yourself with like minded, high moral people; you will be successful. Now the challenge is finding that person and when you do, do you have the persistence to make it happen? Business is not easy but if you have that support team with you the obstacles become opportunities to achieve success.

Now go out and find someone great. If you are a great singer and performer get to Usher and if not, go find the Usher in your line of business.
